Acting Classes For All Levels In Auckland, NZ

Juliet has honed her craft as an acting and voice coach for over 30 years with international and local experience. In January last year she was featured in an editorial by ShoutoutLA ( See Gallery section). In addition to her acting school, she has also taught stagecraft and voice for the new Master’s Program for Opera Studies initiated by Dame Malvina Majors at Waikato University. Juliet’s acting students have been cast in shows such as Young Rock, Mean Moms, My Life is Murder, Head High, In a Flash, Shortland St, Ahikaroa, Lord of the Rings and more.

In 1992 Juliet left NZ to become assistant acting teacher to Jeremiah Comey, at his Film Acting school in LA. She then moved to New York City where she would spend the next 17 years.

This resulted in her studying many acting techniques and methods at various schools as she continued to work as an actress herself. Most notably Juliet trained at the Barrow Group where she was taught by Anne Hathaway's private acting coach, Seth Barrish. This training was pivotal for Juliet and she has continued to work with their approach ever since. Prior to Covid she endeavored to travel each year to New York to maintain contact with Seth and his school The Barrow Group. To upskill and stay up to date with any new methodology. About Juliet, Seth Barrish has previously said,

“ Her level of training and acting experience is at a level that is enviable worldwide. ”

In 2010 Juliet moved to Auckland, NZ and offers her own acting classes. She teaches actors of all levels from professional working actors to beginners. Through her teaching, Juliet is committed to finding the spontaneity, depth of emotional truth, and transformation in performances. She uses an eclectic range of methods to provide individualized training for each actor in Auckland.

Juliet’s work is invaluable to me as an actor. Be it when making split-second adjustments to my character on a film set, or when working a scene in a rehearsal environment. Her teachings are practical, and thanks to the specificity she encourages in class, lead to a great level of learning. I couldn’t recommend Juliet’s classes enough, and I am very grateful to get the opportunity to be up working every single week with a great group of people.

Juliet’s way of working with actors has changed the way I approach acting. Her teaching encourages freedom, spontaneity, truthful behaviour and authentic performances. Juliet does the thing that challenges us all, she pushes you outside of your comfort zone. Although I’ve found it scary, that’s where I’ve learned the most. She gets you out of your head and in to your body. It’s less about any technical work and more about what happens for the performer organically. Her classes allow you to grow in a way where you learn to trust in yourself as a performer and trust that everything you need for a role is within you. If you want to improve as an actor, go to Juliet’s classes!
